Frequently Asked Questions
Why am I being charged sales tax for new orders when I was not previously charged sales tax?
On June 21, 2018, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled in favor of the state in South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc. This ruling allows the state to begin taxing remote sales via their economic nexus laws. Since the ruling, more than 40 states enacted economic nexus laws of their own. As a result of these laws, we are now required to collect sales tax.
My company is tax-exempt. What do I need to provide so I am not charged tax?
In the event that your company is exempt from sales tax, please provide a properly completed sales tax exemption form from your state. The form should be completed in its entirety and be signed and dated. You can upload the form here.
Will all products incur sales tax?
Generally, most products will be subject to sales tax. However, some states do exempt the sale of clothing and related articles. At the time of purchase, sales tax will not be charged on the purchase of these exempt items where applicable.
Do I need to submit a tax-exempt form each year to Pro World?
In most states certificates do not expire. However, as a best practice we would suggest updating the certificate every three to four years, in case of business changes.
How is Pro World determining the amount of sales tax on my order?
Sales tax in most cases is based on destination sourcing. This means that sales tax will be calculated based off of the shipping address of your order.
Can I get a refund of the sales tax I previously paid?
Yes, if you previously paid sales tax for an order, but had a tax-exempt certificate, please submit your tax exempt certificate here within 15 days of the purchase date. We will issue a refund for the sales tax back to your form of payment and mark your account as sales tax exempt for future orders.
